TETRA is ideal as a digital alternative for organisations with large numbers of two-way radio users and high traffic capacity. Thanks to the Time Division Multiple Access technology (TDMA), TETRA offers no less than four channels per frequency, so that several talk groups can communicate simultaneously. Not only is your critical communication of high quality, but your voice communication is much more reliable.

With TETRA, the time to set up a call (= the time required by the infrastructure to transfer a call) is less than 300 milliseconds. A TETRA network uses trunking technology or the ‘pooling of use’. This technology uses a computer or controller that selects free channels for sending and receiving voice and data. If available, the computer can also combine several channels to transfer data faster. The TETRA technology is digital and has the added functionality of a coding algorithm that filters all disruptive background noise, so that the receiver hears the voice perfectly. 

The digital TETRA standard was designed by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), and is used by government institutions, major transport companies and large industrial complexes.
